Henderson, Nev. – The city of Henderson has been named one of the best 100 cities to live in America by MONEY magazine and is the only Nevada city in this year’s ranking.

The top cities with a population between 50,000 and 300,000 were ranked by MONEY based upon strong job opportunities, great schools, low crime, quality health care, plenty to do and a true sense of community.

Henderson was recognized for its trails, parks and recreation, and maintaining services while cutting budgets during the economic downturn. Henderson was named No. 66 and had the largest population of all ranked cities.

“The city of Henderson is truly becoming America’s premier community,” said Henderson Mayor Andy Hafen. “Despite our growth and tough economic times, we continue to provide the best quality of life for everyone who lives, learns, works and plays in our city, so it’s certainly an honor to be nationally recognized for our efforts.”

With a population of 80,100, Indianapolis suburb Carmel, Indiana was rated as the top city. Redmond, Wash. and Irvine, Calif. were the only two western cities in the 2012 top 10 list.

MONEY alternates each year between the best small towns and the best small cities to live in America. This marks the third time since 2006 that Henderson has been named as one of the top 100 cities to live in the magazine’s biennial rating.
